Answer-sheet evaluation · English, Hindi & Telugu medium

Handwritten answer sheets, read and pre‑marked. The final mark is yours.

Scan the sheets with a phone or scanner. Gradely reads the handwriting, checks every answer against your answer key and marking scheme, and suggests marks with a short reason. Anything it isn't sure about comes to you unmarked.

The stack on the staffroom table

Six sections of forty. 240 sheets for one unit test.

That is one subject, one test, one teacher. The marking happens at home, late, after the lessons are planned. By the fiftieth sheet it's hard to mark the same way you marked the first.

Then come the totals, the mark list for the office, and the question nobody has time to answer: which questions did the class actually get wrong?

Gradely does the first read of every sheet, the same way every time, and hands you the decisions.

How it works

Four steps. The last one is always yours.

  1. Scan

Photograph each sheet with a phone, or put the bundle through the office scanner. Photos or PDFs both work.

  2. Read

Gradely reads the handwriting and splits the sheet into answers by question number, including extra sheets.

  3. Suggest marks

Each answer is checked against your key and marking scheme. You get a suggested mark and a one-line reason.

  4. Teacher approves

You read the reasons, change any mark with one tap, mark the doubtful answers yourself, and approve the sheet.

What the teacher sees

The student's own page, and a reason for every mark.

  1. 1

The scan, not a retyped copy

You always mark against what the student actually wrote, with the question beside it.

  2. 2

    A reason with every suggestion

Which scheme points were found and which were missing, in one line you can check at a glance.

  3. 3

    Doubtful answers arrive unmarked

Hard-to-read words, unexpected methods and diagrams are flagged, with the reason for the doubt.

  4. 4

Nothing is final until you approve

Change any mark with + and −. Only approved sheets go into the mark list.

Telugu mediumTE

One-word and objective

Matched against the key, with accepted variants you list: H₂ for hydrogen, Ω for ohm.

Short answers

Checked point by point against the marking scheme. The reason names the point that was missing.

Long answers

Scheme points found anywhere in the answer, in any order. Alternative correct explanations go to you.

Maths, step by step

x² + 2x + 3x + 61

= x(x + 2) + 3(x + 2)1

= (x + 2)(x − 3)0

Step marks as your scheme gives them. A slip in the last line doesn't cost the earlier steps.

Diagrams, graphs and maps are shown to the teacher to mark. Every pilot starts with a batch of your own students' sheets, so you can see how well Gradely reads their handwriting before you rely on it.

Results and analysis

The mark list is ready when the last sheet is approved.

Class-wise mark lists export straight to Excel or PDF. The question-wise view shows where the class lost marks, so the next lesson starts in the right place.

Fairness and student data

A second pair of eyes. Never the examiner.

One scheme for every sheet

The first sheet and the two-hundredth are checked against the same answer key and the same marking scheme.

A teacher approves every mark

Suggestions stay suggestions. Marks reach the mark list only after a teacher approves the sheet, and every change is logged.

Doubtful answers are never auto-marked

Illegible words, unexpected methods, overwriting and diagrams are flagged and left blank for the teacher.

Student data under the DPDP Act, 2023

Scans and marks are processed only to evaluate your exams, visible only to your staff, and deleted when you ask.

FAQ

Questions teachers ask us.

No. It suggests a mark and a reason for each answer. A teacher reviews, changes what needs changing and approves the sheet. Only approved sheets go into the mark list.

The answer is flagged as doubtful and left unmarked, with the scanned image in front of you. The same happens for overwriting, unexpected methods and diagrams.

Sometimes, which is why nothing is final until a teacher approves it. In your pilot, teachers mark a batch of sheets themselves and compare it with Gradely's suggestions before deciding.

The question paper, the answer key and the marking scheme, the same things you would give a co-examiner, plus the scanned sheets. We help you set up the first few.

Yes. A phone photo taken flat and in good light works, as does any office scanner. Upload photos or PDFs, one sheet or a whole bundle.

We process scans and marks only on your instructions and only to evaluate your exams, as the DPDP Act, 2023 requires. Access is limited to your staff, and data is deleted when you ask. We can sign a data processing agreement with your institution.
